January 26th | Don't Stress!

Today we are going to be talking about a subject that is common among everybody – stress. Not all stress is bad. Psychologists tell us that there are two types of stress: eustress and distress, one is healthy and one is not. Eustress is what motivates us to accomplish the daily tasks that life brings us. Distress is that overwhelming feeling we get when we have too much to do and too little time to do it in. Or for some, too much month at the end of the money. Stress is a subject that we have to tackle head on because of its dangerous physical consequences. Consider the effects that stress has on the body:

  • 25 million Americans have high blood pressure due to stress and anxiety
  • 1 million Americans will develop high blood pressure this year
  • 112 million Americans take medication for stress related symptoms
  • 1 million Americans miss work everyday because of stress

Those are some heavy-duty statistics with heavy-duty consequences. The subject of stress is one we must tackle head on starting today. To be sure life is going to throw us some curve balls, it’s going to rain on your parade and troubles and difficulty will be the norm. So how do we handle life like this? Let’s take a look at Jesus… I don’t think anyone would argue that Jesus’ stress load was pretty huge – like the weight of the world on His shoulders literally! This morning let’s dive into the life of Jesus and let’s look at Jesus’ stress management plan.

January 20th | No Worries Mon

This has been a wonderful and exciting first week of the Biggest Winner 10 Week Challenge. Over 400 of you have said yes to a healthier lifestyle and I am grateful for the encouragement. Over 300 of you this past week took advantage of one of our 33 exercise venues! Unbelievable! And that doesn’t include those of you who have taken Lifestyle Family Fitness up on their generous offer to us.

Today we are talking about one of the stealthiest causes to physical problems -worry. It is debilitating, discouraging and in some cases – deadly! Yet, getting rid of worry from our lives is a difficult thing to do – especially if you come from a family of worry warts. You know what I mean, that special someone who has to always be worrying about something or everything!

Let’s learn to let go of stuff we have no right of holding on to and let’s take the attitude of our dear Bahamian brothers and sisters – "No Worries Mon!"

Love,

Pastor Todd

Today, many more of you will do the same. Let me give you three ways in which you can maximize your 10-week challenge:

  1. Participate: Enroll today and commit to finishing the 10 weeks.
  2. Partner: Find someone (co-worker, friend, family member) to take the journey with you.
  3. Pray: Ask God for His help and guide.

God tells us in 3 John 2, "Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well." Let’s take Him at His Word. Let’s honor Him by taking care of the body He has given to us – It is His House – lets keep it as clean as we can!
