June 28th | VBS Commencement
Dear Church,Wow! What an explosive week at Vacation Bible School! The energy was electric as boys and girls learned how much God loves them. And boy did we have fun!
I want to thank the over 100 volunteers who invested their time and energy into the over 250 children who attended Vacation Bible School. It was a week that saw 78 children make salvation decisions to welcome Jesus into their hearts. What an incredible week!
This morning we had a special 8:00 a.m. service for the Babe Ruth State Championship Baseball teams. Their teams came from all across the state and we are honored to be the sponsoring ministry for Babe Ruth Baseball.
After the 11 a.m. service this morning we will have a cook-out and the Ultimate Slooze Show! So be prepared to get messy!
Love,
Pastor Todd
June 21st | Let's Make A Dad
Dear Church!Happy Father’s Day! And welcome to the first annual Let’s Make A Deal Dad game show! This morning we will have dad’s pairing up with their children to compete with each other. Today is going to be a fun day and stay tuned because you will come away encouraged by God and His Word.
It’s tough being a dad (tougher being a mom I know! But you’ve already had your day!). There are a lot of demands and pressures that we face daily. There is constant tugging for our time and priorities. So today we don’t want to beat you up for the things you may not be doing, we want to bless you for being here today. At First Baptist Church of Altamonte Springs kids can be a kid today and today dads can too! Enjoy!
Love,
Pastor Todd
P.S. Dad’s don’t forget to register for the drawing for the Tampa Rays Tickets! You can register at the kiosk!
June 14th | Am I the Real Deal?
Dear Church Family,
We are excited and waiting in anticipation for our all family members in San Diego, CA to return to us safe and sound. We are humbled by the thought that they were able to represent our church but most of all the Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray for their continued safety. We rejoice over the many blessings that occurred during the course of the week. Pastor Todd says to continue to pray specifically for each member of the team and the churches they are partnering to help.
I was reading the other day this passage of scripture from Psalm 139:1-6 and this thought came to me. I don't know how else to say it: hypocrisy is very serious.
Inside we're like this; outside we're like this. The gap between what people see and what's really inside us-that's hypocrisy. It starts off as a crease between what we appear to be and what we really are. It then becomes a crack and, if neglected, it becomes a canyon between us and God.
I want my life to be different. I don't want to pose for anyone. I don't want to take up some position in my life to match anyone's expectations. I want to be real! BE REAL before God and BE REAL to others!
Love,
Pastor Chris
June 7th | You Talkin' to Me
Dear Church Family,Many years ago Robert De Niro coined this phrase in the movie Taxi Driver – “You talkin’ to me?” And it is a phrase that we would do well incorporating into our conversation with God.
So often God is speaking but we are not listening. And if we would simply ask God, “You talkin’ to me?” His response would be “Yes! Yes I Am.” Like Samuel from days gone by we say “Speak Lord, your servant is listening” (1 Samuel 3:10). This past week I asked you to start each day with a statement/question – “Yes God, I’m willing. What’s the question?” Then take the time to listen to His response.
The question for many today is simple: How do I know God is speaking? This morning we will answer that question. Yes, God is speaking, but the issue is, are we listening?
Love,
Pastor Todd
